Pedro's Return to Boston

Someone asked me what I thought about Pedro's return the other day--and, honestly, it was a bit sad. I guess I agree with this. As an American League fan, I don't watch many national league games. Wednesday night was the first time I had watched Pedro pitch a whole game in another uniform.

What really struck me was the brief footage of his first Red Sox start, when he was throwing a change-up with break measured in feet rather than inches. When I was a kid, Joe's dad (and others) would talk about Koufax's curve ball as the most ridiculous thing they had ever seen--I'm pretty sure that Pedro's change-up will become equally legendary in my baseball memory. After the flashback, I watched Pedro throw a few change-ups. Still good, still got late movement, but clearly no longer immortal.

All in all, it was a good night. The Red Sox won, Beckett looked great, the Celtics might have gotten a point guard (and got rid of LaFrentz). But, still, seeing Pedro in a different uniform and a different light was a bit offsetting.

What I have I done?

Well, obviously, I've constructed a space for discerning fans to discuss sports. Or movies. Or babies. Whatever.

I'll update the links later--I only really read baseball blogs, so if anyone has any links for the other sports (or cares about hockey, golf, boxing, women's field hockey, etc.), let me know and I can add some.

I'm pretty sure and member can manipulate the template, but if you don't know how to work HTML, then just send me the info and I'll make the changes.
